Delighted to announce that with help from a grant secured from North Yorkshire Council as part of the Inspire Fund we are able to offer a selection of free screenings this winter within the local community.

The Inspire Fund is designated as part of NYCC stronger community’s programme across Richmondshire and North Yorkshire to help bring communities together and support local engaging projects.

Across a 6–7week period from November we will be screening classic Christmas titles on selected weekday mornings and welcoming audiences over 50 as part of our ‘Better Together’ campaign.

These screenings will be provided free of charge and offer people from Richmondshire a safe, warm inviting space this winter to meet with friends & make new ones as part of our community.

Loneliness and isolation are an increasing side effect we see nationwide during the winter months especially and we hope to help combat this with our funded free screenings.

General Manager of the Station Cinema Dan Westgarth said:

“I’m really pleased to get the support of NYCC to bring this initiative to life at the Station Cinema. We are very much a community driven Cinema working with various external groups and audiences of all ages across the year to bring the escapism of film to all.

Knowing the difficulties especially in the winter months, the darker nights & weather which can be prohibitive for travelling for many and the ever risings costs – that we can bring people together with no cost involved to enjoy a classic movie & a hot drink.

Films are made to be shared and there’s nothing better than being together. I’m hopeful we not only see a large number of people uptake this offer but a regular community of filmgoers who make life changing friendships through the shared medium of film.”
